Top 4 Murcia Golf Breaks For Your Next Golf Holiday

Published:

Murcia is an exceptional location for a golf holiday in Spain which won’t break the bank

We take a look in a little more detail and profile the top Murcia golf resorts on offer for your next holiday.

Mar Menor Golf Resort

First on our list is Mar Menor Golf Resort. This is arguably the most popular golf resort in Murcia. With nearby bars, restaurants, and over five golf courses to choose from, it’s easy to see why, especially for larger groups.

When it comes to accommodation, there are a number of options available. The most cost-effective is The Residences – a range of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom apartments lining the fairways of the on-site Par 72 Mar Menor golf course. From small to large, every apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, living area, and a private bathroom.

If you prefer hotel accommodation, there is also the five-star Caleia Mar Menor Golf Hotel & Spa Resort, with seven different restaurants, a spa, a gym, and an outdoor pool.

This resort is ideal for those looking for a base to stay whilst experiencing the Nicklaus Golf Trail, as the other five Murcia courses (Saurines Golf, La Torre, El Valle, Hacienda Riquelme, and Alhama Signature Golf) are all within 40 minutes transfer time, whilst Altorreal Golf Club is another great option and just a 45-minute journey.

Campo de Golf Mar Menor

La Manga Club

Next on our list is a regular training base for some of the best football teams, meaning you can be assured that the facilities at La Manga Resort are high quality. The five-star Principe Felipe Hotel provides luxury accommodation in a variety of room choices, all of which offer a balcony and view of the pool or golf course.

When it comes to food, you’ll be spoilt for choice, with no fewer than seven restaurants on the resort and plenty of bars to keep you amused in the evening. On-site there are three 18-hole golf courses to choose from, the North (Par 71), South (Par 73), and West (Par 72). The North and South courses were developed by Robert Dean Putman before opening in 1971, with the latter getting a redesign from Arnold Palmer in 2005. The South course is considered the trickier of the three and was crafted by Dave Thomas and is surrounded by a pine forest at the base of the Calblanque Natural Park.

Roda Golf & Beach Resort

Located just outside Los Alcázares, and another golf resort with accommodation on-site. At Roda Golf & Beach Resort, you can stay in two-bedroom apartments, making it perfect for groups and offering another option for a great value golf break in Murcia. In addition to the apartments is the Vive Roda restaurant which gives incredible views of the entire resort and offers a menu of starters, paella dishes, meats, fish, and desserts made from the finest local ingredients. The Roda golf course is a fantastic Dave Thomas-designed Par 72 track, giving golfers of any ability a true test.

DoubleTree by Hilton La Torre Golf & Spa Resort

For those looking for that luxurious golf break, this resort ticks all the boxes. Situated on La Torre Golf Course, this five-star resort has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, multiple bars and restaurants, a fitness center and spa with a wide range of treatments, as well as stunning views of the golf course which is on your doorstep. La Torre Golf Course is a Par 68 and one of the six courses in the region that was designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus.

Getting There

In addition to great golf resorts, Murcia is a convenient location to travel to from the UK, with the Región de Murcia International Airport a destination for a number of budget airlines from the majority of the UK’s largest airports including Manchester, London Gatwick, Bristol, East Midlands, Glasgow Prestwick, London Stansted and London Luton. Alternatively, the slightly more accessible Alicante Airport is just an hour’s transfer away, which only increases the options available.

Off The Course

Away from the fairways, there is plenty to see and do! For those looking for nightlife, you’ll find plenty of it in the coastal town of Los Alcazares, where the popular Hotel Costa Narejos and 525 Hotel are located – if you want to be closer to the action than staying in one of the aforementioned golf resorts. In between these two hotels is a square containing numerous bars and restaurants with outdoor seating. You’ll also find a beach in Los Alcazares, Playa Las Salinas, so you can relax and unwind and reminisce about that birdie.

Further south is the larger port city of Cartagena, a city with fantastic architecture and culture including a Roman Amphitheater and the 13th Century Concepción Castle.
