Erin Hills welcomes the world’s best golfers for the 80th US Women’s Open. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the second major of the year.

Wisconsin’s Erin Hills will become the 16th venue to host both US national opens when the oldest women’s major tees off on May 29, having seen Brooks Koepka first win the USGA’s marquee event when the course made its major debut in 2017.

The best of both the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour, including eight past champions, lineup in the 156-woman field to compete for the Harton S. Semple Trophy, won for a second time in 2024 by Japan’s Yuka Saso.

The USGA received 1,904 entries for 2025’s championship from golfers in 46 US states and 60 foreign countries, the second highest on record.

Qualifying for those non-exempt pros was contested over 36 holes at 23 sites across the United States, plus one each in Canada, Japan, and Italy between April 15-May 13. A total of 26 amateurs are set to tee it up in this year’s edition.

Venue: Erin Hills, Wisconsin (Par 72 – 6,829 yards)

Format: 72-hole strokeplay with 36-hole cut (low 60 scorers plus ties)

Playoff: A two-hole aggregate playoff should there be a 72-hole tie

2024 Purse: $12m with the winner receiving $2.4m

While the prize fund for 2025 is yet to be announced, the US Women’s Open is expected to remain the biggest purse in the women’s game.
