Two time major champion and four time Ryder Cup Captain, Tony Jacklin CBE is making a first appearance in the British Par 3 Championship at Nailcote Hall, Warwicks, from August 4-7.
The Championship is celebrating the 75th Anniversary of its’ inaugural event at the Palace Hotel, Torquay in 1933 where it was played until 1973.
Many of golf’s greatest players including Harry Vardon, Alex Herd, James Braid, Charlie Ward, Percy Alliss and Abe Mitchell, launched the event back in 1933 and it is really fitting that ‘Jacko’ is able to join the Championship’s special celebrations this year
Rick Cressman, Nailcote Hall’s owner said, “Tony Jacklin was my golfing boyhood hero and I am thrilled to bits that he is following in another legend’s footsteps here at Nailcote Hall – Max Faulkner who was his predecessor as a British Open Champion. Max loved playing at Nailcote and I hope Tony really enjoys the challenges our course presents “.
On August 4th a special gala dinner will be held honouring senior tour star, Tommy Horton after a Celebrity-Am team event. Three days later (August 7) a charity fund raising dinner will follow a team Celebrity-Am competition with many sporting heroes, including Peter Schmeichel, Peter Shilton and Willie Thorne, plus a few stars of TV including Coronation Street legend, William Roache.
The Numark British Par 3 Championship Pro-Am takes place on August 5 & 6 and will test the pro’s and their amateur partners over 36 holes around the tricky little Cromwell course.
