World number one Tiger Woods is relishing this week’s USPGA Championship, and believes his game is in fine fettle ahead of the last of the year’s Majors.

The 31-year-old, who is the defending champion, came close to adding to his haul of Major triumphs at the US Masters and the US Open, but as yet is without a Major victory this year.

He said: “You never want to be shut out. You never want to have a year where you don’t win a Major championship.

Woods, who is six adrift of equalling Jack Nicklaus’s Major record of 18 titles, produced a stellar final-round performance to win the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at the weekend.

“I feel I made some nice strides. I feel very good going into the PGA, getting a few days to prepare and getting adjusted, and off we go.”
