A new solution has been found to the problem of rounds of golf taking 3 or more hours: 6teesix golf challenge.

Up to 4 million people enjoy the game but can’t find the time to play more than once or twice a year. The great Jack Nicklaus recently said that he would like to see more courses reconfigure their layout to 3 loops of 6 holes so that people could play golf in one hour slots.

There is also statistical evidence that time is the main barrier of playuing golf. 82% of people in a recent survey said that time was the major barrier to playing golf reguarly.

6teesix is like a mini-version of the Ryder Cup, but with many more teams than just Europe and the USA. It is a competitive golf league of 6 people over 6 holes. Up to 6 players from 2 teams compete in a modified “match play” format, based on texas scramble. The teams split into 3 pairs and 2 pairs from each team go head-to-head over six holes on a standard golf course. The captain choses the pairings.

The matches are set on the same night every week, which allows team members to network with other team members. Fixtures continue weekly until all team has played all the other teams in their league and leagues will consist of a maximum of 10 teams. At the end of the fixtures, the best teams will be invited to the National Finals at a championship course.

Of course you would expect to pay a fair amount to play this new golfing premiership, but it costs just £20 to join a league and £1 per hole thereafter.

6teesix leagues start at the end of July after The Open. If you would like to enter a team of friends or colleagues from work, visit www.6teesix.com and follow the on-screen instructions.
