At a special Wilson Staff gathering at Carnoustie, Padraig Harrington reveals exactly what he’d have done had he been in Jean Van de Velde’s shoes on the final hole of the 1999 Open at the famous Scottish links.
Like everybody else, Harrington felt deeply sorry for the hapless Frenchman whose triple bogey cost him the title after he paid Barry Burn a costly visit. However, the Irishman revealed: “Carnoustie’s 18th must be the toughest hole in golf to have a lead on.”
