Europe’s 2006 Order of Merit winner Padraig Harrington has got into the golf course design act.
Harrington, recent winner of the Irish Open at Adare Manor, is set to open his course design account in his beloved Ireland: at The Marlbrook, Clonmel in Co. Tipperary to be exact.
It promises to be a pretty special venue too. Set in the heart of the Golden Vale, The Marlbrook is a 500-acre 18th century parkland estate overlooking the picturesque River Suir.
The course will be supported by a state-of-the-art clubhouse offering stunning panoramic vistas.
Harrington, currently looking forward to next week’s US Open at Oakmont, is relishing getting stuck into getting down to work on the exciting new project although the course itself won’t be ready for play until 2010.
He said: “I’ve been looking for the perfect location for my first course design and I believe I’ve found it at The Marlbrook where I’m sure we can create something special.”
