PGA commissioner Tim Finchem insists that the recent announcement of a Dubai World Championship will be good for the professional game.
The European Tour announced earlier this week that November 2009 will be the date for the first season-ending event in Dubai, which will be worth £4.8m.
Finchem said: “I think it’s terrific. It is terrific for professional golf globally; it is great for the European Tour and the players who play on that Tour consistently.
“World-class athletes in our sport should be paid and compensated at the same level as team sports and to see the work that the European Tour has done to bring this tournament on is tremendous,” added Finchem.
