The London Golf Show has been recognised for its charitable contributions by the presentation of a commemorative plaque from its official benefiting charity.
The children’s medical charity SPARKS has received more than £35,000 from the London Golf Show during the last two years.

The funds have been raised via ticket sales – the charity gets a donation from each ticket sold – and sundry events at the show and other promotional events such as the Premiership Masters, which was won in 2006 by a Charlton Athletic team led by the BBC’s Mark Bright.

SPARKS’ chief executive John Shanley explained: “We wanted to recognise the contribution the London Golf Show had made to our fundraising over the past two years. When you consider in 2005 the London Golf Show was an embryonic venture it puts firmly into perspective the generosity of the contribution.

“We enjoy a tremendous working relationship with everybody at The Golf Show Co Ltd throughout the year and we look forward to continuing our mutually beneficial relationship long into the future.”

Colin Brunton, chairman of The Golf Show Co Ltd, who received the plaque on behalf of the London Golf Show, said: “We were very grateful to SPARKS for the presentation and a little shocked to be honest. Obviously we’re overjoyed to be recognised in this manner but it’s completely unexpected.

“We work alongside SPARKS because we support the work the charity does and it is rewarding to go about your daily job knowing somebody benefits in this way.
“Discovering they value us as much as we value their work with children simply reinforces our desire to help and we look forward to boosting the coffers significantly with fundraising at the 2007 show in April.”

The London Golf Show 2007 returns to ExCeL from April 26-29 with Europe’s largest golf retail store courtesy of the UK’s no1 retailer, american golf; a 30-bay driving range; the chance to go head-to-head on the chipping green with celebrities; the opportunity to sink a 100ft putt; the iconic floating green; myriad game-improvement gadgets; a fashion show; plus a much bigger area dedicated to junior golf with free coaching, fun and games and prizes.
