Mahan records second win with PING Nome putter

PING staff player Hunter Mahan recorded another victory using the new Nome putter with a win at the Houston Open.

PING’s new mallet putter shot to fame at the back end of February when American Mahan won the WGC Match Play event using it.

The putter was too hot for Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy that day, and Mahan was impressive again with it in Texas, seeing off the challenge of Sweden’s Carl Pettersson to record a 16-under-par winning total.

Overnight leader Louis Oosthuizen endured a tough day though, firing a two-over-par final round and Mahan held his nerve on the last to secure a par that gave him the win.

In addition to the Nome putter, Mahan was also using a full bag of PING clubs, including the sensational S56 irons, G20 driver, G20 fairway woods and an i15 hybrid.

He also used PING’s Forged Anser wedges.

The win sees Mahan move up to fourth in the World Rankings ahead of this week’s first Major of the year at Augusta.
