Links and heathland courses dominate this Top 100 – and Hankley owes its place in the collection as it skilfully (with the input of Braid and Colt, why wouldn’t it?) combines the finest features of the two. Unlike its neighbouring courses in Surrey which weave through forests of pine and birch, there is a great feeling of space at Hankley. Eight new back tees have been added in the last decade to stretch its yardage and ensure it is still a test for the best, as it was in 1897.
