Founded in 1888, RAF’s bunkerless Old course has in recent years begun a programme of heather regeneration to give the course more of its original heathland feel. So, silver birch, gorse and scrub have been cleared to allow colourful but penal heather to flourish – which is delightful, if you can stay out of it.
