Sandwiched between the North and South Downs, Harry Colt designed the original layout as a 12-hole course. It was extended to full size 11 years later and has improved with age. Birch and fir trees line many of the fairways – which benefit from being on the west edge of the southern sand belt which stretches into Surrey.
