At a little over 6,000 yards, the Burnside hints at a leisurely warm-up for the championship course at Carnoustie… and then you tackle the 460-yard par-4 4th, ‘South America’, and you rather sharply think again. The 5th, ‘Burn’, is the pick: a terrific short hole which is surrounded by the Barry Burn on three sides.
