What we say
This course is only a couple of years old and has recently gone from 9 to 18 holes. It’s in a lovely setting and will undoubtedly mature nicely – the greens were not in the best condition when we visited but will get better with time. It’s still only just over 6,000 yards and strangely enough the new back nine arguably has the better holes. Good value for money.
Staining Lodge Golf Course was launched as an 18 hole golf course in August, 2009. The previous nine hole 80 acre course doubled in size to become a 6,500 yard, 18 hole par 72 course.
Set in 160 acres Staining Lodge is the largest pay and play course in the Fylde area.
Proprietors Alison and Peter Wigglesworth are excited to see the completion of the project: “We started planning the development in 2003 and always planned to build an 18-hole golf course. The first nine was launched July 2006 and it’s great to see three years on the realisation of our dream. It has been hard work but incredibly rewarding."
Despite speculation that once 18 Staining Lodge will turn into members club the owners plan to keep the course as inclusive as possible with no formal memberships.
The course has golf pros offering lessons, golf carts, hire clubs and trolleys, available to hire from the pro shop.

Still maturing, and will improve over time, new bunkers have been added which makes it more challenging. The clubhouse facilies are excellent.
