Ashbury

What we say

This place really is a golfing paradise. Set in over 700 acres of rolling Devon countryside in the foothills of Dartmoor National Park, you’ll discover golf galore in the form of three 18 hole layouts (Kigbeare, Oakwood & Beeches), an 18 hole par-3 (Willows) and three nine holers (Ashbury, Pines & Forest), incredibly giving the venue seven 18 hole combinations in total.

In addition you can warm-up for whichever course you elect to play on the eight-bay undercover driving range as well as taking advantage of the 18 hole putting green and chipping area.

They may be on the same site, but Ashbury’s courses provide varied, contrasting challenges with the par-72 Kigbeare, starting and finishing outside the clubhouse on two of the original holes built in 1991, being the longest at 6,464 yards off the daily tips.

Signature hole is the stunning 205 yards, par-3 3rd – from an elevated tee you’re looking to hit a green 50ft below and beyond the aptly-named Hookmoor brook, a magnet for many under-hit tee shots.

Situated in 600 acres of Devon countryside, Ashbury Hotel offers 7 different 18 hole courses. The course features tree-lined fairways, and well protected greens, as well as a few strategically placed water hazards. These courses are built on well draining land, meaning the course is open for play all year round with no temporary greens. This course promises any level of golfer with a challenging game.

Your Reviews

  • 4 out of 5 Great value and variety

    By Steve Trace

The courses here are always well presented and offer a good challenge. The willows par 3 course is much more than a pitch and putt and the variety offered by the full length courses is great. There are some spectacular views of Dartmoor from the higher points of the courses. The hotel has basic accommodation but a huge variety of activities to keep you busy when not on the course or to keep a non playing partner happy. Great value for money.
