St Andrews, Eden

What we say

It may be well down the pecking order at the Home of Golf but the par-70 Eden, built by Harry Colt in 1914, is still a fine links in its own right and indeed provides the ideal ‘warm up’ for its esteemed neighbours, including the Old Course of course.

Overlooked by many due to the reputation of it's neighbours, the Eden Course is still a fine test of links golf.

Away from the sea, this course provides a nice warm-up to the more challenging courses in the complex.

Played the eden in sept. '07, played twice, really enjoyable experience. Although some of the holes were a little disappointing the rest were a good test, with excellent greens and the facilities of the nearby practice centre and driving range are superb. If you haven't got the cash or time to get on the old course, consider the eden as an alternative. You might even get some sun like we did!!

Played the Eden course as part of a three day holiday over the Easter weekend. Four of us on a three day pass playing the Eden, New Course, Jubilee and finally the Castle on the Sunday. After walking round the impressive St Andrews town and watching a few groups tee off the first at the old course we drove the short distance to the Eden clubhouse. What's apparent when you arrive is the relaxed environment and all the staff were superb, we were watching the various LCD screens in the clubhouse which gave a summary of each course and the work that had been undertaken on each course and the notes from the green keeper, superb !! Onto the practise green for the Eden we quickly realised what a treat we were going to be in for, the practise green was very very true, in fact they were like lightning ! These continued round the course the whole condition of the course was just superb the tees and fairways were immaculate. We felt this course was the easiest of our holiday but interesting and a good test of golf all the same. Some great views over the River Eden, with some water coming into play on the 14th and 15th Holes. The sinage is generally good and yardages to the front on the greens on sprikler heads\disks is very helpfull. This is standard throught all the courses. Overall our first day was a superb an indication of the what was to come, although the weather was overcast we were very happy and looked forward to the 36 holes the day after on the New Course and Jubilee. We felt welcome and at home at the home of golf !
