Miyu Yamashita was born in 2001, in Neyagawa, Japan. She began playing golf at the age of five and quickly emerged as one of the most promising young talents in Japanese golf. She turned professional in 2020 and claimed her first victory on the LPGA of Japan Tour the following year at the KKT Cup Vantelin Ladies Open, which proved to be the beginning of a remarkably consistent and decorated golfing career.
Yamashita secured five tour victories in 2022 and 2023, including prestigious titles such as the Miyagi TV Cup Dunlop Ladies Open and the JLPGA Tour Championship Ricoh Cup. Her dominance earned her consecutive Player of the Year honors, as well as topping the money list both seasons. In 2022, she made history by becoming the first player to shoot a round of 60 in a JLPGA event and led the tour with a season-low scoring average and an impressive 21 top‑10 finishes.
In 2024, Yamashita earned medalist honors at the LPGA Q‑Series, securing her LPGA Tour card for the 2025 season. Her performances since have included a tie for second at the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, a fourth-place finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and multiple top‑10 results during her rookie year.
In August 2025, she won her first major title, the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Porthcawl. Yamashita is widely regarded as one of the brightest emerging talents in the global women’s game.
