Phil Mickelson is one of the most successful golfers ever to play the game. The American has won 45 times on the PGA Tour, including six major championships. With his win at the 2021 PGA Championship at Kiawah Island, Mickelson became the oldest major champion, and he’s the only golfer over 50 to win a major.
Before joining the LIV Golf Tour in 2022, Lefty had a short stint on the PGA Tour Champions. Of his six starts, Mickelson won four of them, joining Jack Nicklaus as the only golfer to win on four of their first six starts.
The victories have dried up for Mickelson since joining LIV Golf as the captain of HyFlyers GC. The six-time major champion’s best finish is third place at LIV Golf Hong Kong 2025, and HyFlyers GC are one of just three teams that haven’t won an event on the Saudi-backed breakaway Tour (Majesticks GC and Iron Head GC are the other two teams).
Mickelson might not have found any success on the LIV Golf Tour, but he has notched up a few victories playing YouTube golf alongside Grant Horvat. As a duo, they’ve struck up quite the bromance, and in their 2v2 series, the pair are undefeated, having beaten 4Aces GC captain, Dustin Johnson, and his caddie and brother, Austin, John Daly and his son, John Daly Jr., and Legion XIII captain, John Rahm, and Buffalo Bills Quarterback, Josh Allen.
Mickelson was a long-time Callaway staffer while he played on the PGA Tour, but after joining LIV Golf, that relationship ended, and now Lefty has much more of a mixed bag. Over the past couple of years, Mickelson has chopped and changed equipment, but perhaps the biggest surprise is what he’s now using on the greens.
