Cobra AMP driver
Last updated:
In case you hadn’t noticed, the new Cobra AMP driver features a significant amount of orange – and that’s no accident.
Cobra wanted to make a bold statement with the new AMP range as it looks to broaden its appeal to more golfers. The range will even be played on Tour by Cobra’s staff players, some of whom have yet to be unveiled for 2012.
But it’s not all about looks, the driver features some real game-enhancing technology in the form of an adjustable AFT (adjustable face technology) hosel allowing the face to be opened or closed by 2 degrees from neutral.
It also features Cobra’s E9 face technology which has been a feature in the company’s drivers in recent years. The technology features an elliptical face for more forgiveness high on the toe or low in the heel, where many mis-hits occur while a new addition is a canted dual roll design, meaning mishits above and below the centre-line still produce a high ball speed.
In addition, each loft in the range – from 8.5 to 11.5 degrees – features a specific amount of dual roll, head weight, shaft weight and shaft length optimised to the swing speed of a player most suited to that loft.
The Cobra AMP driver has an RRP of £259. For more information on the entire range see the current issue of Today’s Golfer magazine, on sale from December 29, 2011.
