Cobra AMP iron

At Today’s Golfer we loved Cobra’s S3 iron because it not only looked great but it had bags of forgiveness as well. The new Cobra AMP iron has now been introduced to replace the S3 iron as well as stepping up the performance a notch as well.

The iron is still aimed at the mid-handicapper and features a progressive design with long irons that are bigger and more forgiving than the shorter clubs.

The AMP stands for advanced material placement and this is shown in the irons where weight is placed in the heel and the toe areas – particularly in the longer irons – for more forgiveness.

The E9 face technology evident in the AMP woods is also at play here meaning the face is designed to offer faster ball speeds high on the toe and low in the heel, where common mishits occur.

Lastly, a new V-skid sole is narrower in the toe and heel to enhance versatility and make the club more playable from different lies.

The irons are priced at £549 in steel and £649 in graphite from 4-PW and we’ve got loads more information in the current issue of Today’s Golfer magazine on sale from December 29, 2011.
