TaylorMade R11S fairway wood

By Jonathan Greathead, Senior Equipment Editor

TaylorMade have introduced their new R11S fairway wood to their range for the new season, and it comes with the promise of even more adjustability than the previous R11 product.

The 2011 R11 featured Adjustable Sole Plate Technology and Flight Control Technology which allowed golfers to adjust loft and face angle independently, and while this remains in the new model the FCT has more to it this time around. In fact, golfers can increase or decrease the loft by 1.5°.

In a dramatic twist, TaylorMade engineers have also moved the centre of gravity in the fairway wood forward – the big story in recent years is about manufacturers moving the CG lower and deeper, but TaylorMade say that by keeping it low but at the same time moving it closer to the face the fairway wood offers lower spin rates while maintaining a high launch.

The white crown helps to make the clubhead appear larger, giving you more confidence at address.
