Ufford Park gets in the pink act
Last updated:
Popular 2-FORE!-1 venue Ufford Park Hotel Golf & Spa near Woodbridge, Suffolk, has always been proud of the fact that their par 71 parkland golf course was ‘’challenging.”
However, it’s been too challenging for many lady golfers – until now! As from this Friday (oct 30th), Ufford Park will now become officially a ‘’lady friendly’’ course with the introduction of new Pink Tees.
These pink tees will shorten the course from 6312yds to approx. 4718yds, enabling lady golfers and beginners to play the parkland course with ease – making the whole experience more enjoyable, less intimidating and even more time efficient.
‘’This whole idea evolved from trying to increase not just our lady membership numbers but also ladies pay & play.
“From previous research done we realised that promotions offering discounts etc just wouldn’t work – we needed to simplify the actual golf course instead – that was when we came up with shorter holes and less hazards.
“And by making these new Tees pink it made the concept both quirky and lady friendly. It was following on from this that doing something to support Breast Cancer Awareness came about.‘’ says Tarnia Robertson, Marketing Director of Ufford Park.
This week both the lady members and Tuesday club members (over 50yrs) will test out these new tees for themselves, whilst raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness. Each player will donate £1 to charity by playing off the ‘pinkies’.
‘’ This whole idea is so exciting for me as Ufford Park’s new lady captain – if it encourages more ladies into the game that would be fantastic.
“Ufford Park has always been a proactive golf club and I am very proud to be the captain for the next 12 months,’’ said Jane Banthorpe Lady Captain.
*Ufford Park is a great year-round course which is particularly good news for 2-FORE!-1 GOLF voucher holders who can play there seven days a week for half the normal green fee rates.
