Last updated:
The Belfry, the spiritual home of the Ryder Cup, has expanded its successful Brabazon Challenge competition for 2010, adding extra qualifying dates for the summer-long pairs contest and offering the chance to win a range of top prizes.
The Challenge, which ran for the first time last year, gives club golfers the chance to compete like a Tour pro on the famous Ryder Cup course for just £199 per pair.
Players can enter into an 18-hole two-ball better ball Stableford competition where they can win prizes from leading golf brands Titleist, FootJoy, and J.Lindeberg. They also benefit from a buffet breakfast before teeing off.
Set up to tournament standards, The Brabazon course will host six qualifying events between April and September that will see the top pair from each qualifier, plus the two teams with the next highest scores, advance to the Grand Finals weekend in October.
The qualifying dates are: Tuesday April 13; Tues May 11; Tues June 22; Tues July 20; Tues August 17 & Tues September 21
Knock-out quarter finals will then be played on Friday 22 October, with the four winning pairs receiving dinner, bed & breakfast accommodation in the four-star hotel ahead of their semi finals the following day.
The finalists then have a further night’s accommodation before the decider takes place on 24 October.
Golfers who sign up to The Brabazon Challenge are also being offered a special half-price practice round on the day before qualifying at £70 per golfer after 2pm, while preferential bedroom rates are available in the hotel on the night before qualifying at £69 per twin room.
