Taste the champagne golfing life in france

You can do just that with a visit to Aube which is in the Champagne region of France and is well known by food and drink lovers.

However, it is also fine golfing territory with a trio of excellent, relatively undiscovered courses in the area.

A great base for a visit is the Best Western hotel in the grounds of the Golf de la foret d’orient. It’s just 15km from the medieval city of Troyes and 90 minutes from Paris and offers: a 400 m² spa witha wide selection of facilities including a sauna and hydro-jet spa baths; heated outdoor swimming pool; air-conditioned rooms equipped with free Wi-Fi access and cable TV; Le Héron Cendré – a restaurant serving local, traditional cuisine. Double rooms cost from £79.81.

The Golf

*Golf de la Foret d’Orient – Situated right in the heart of the Natural Regional Park, the course is the most pastoral and peaceful place you could find. It is a haven of green surrounded by forests, plains and lakes.

The par-71 course was designed by Jean-Manuel Rossi and is a pleasure to play.

*Golf de L’Ermitage – Francis Wiart created this outstanding 18 hole, par-72 course on his own land, encompassing the forest and the lakes.

The course has a computer controlled drainage and irrigation system.  The clubhouse situated in an old hunting lodge with exposed beams is the perfect place to relax.

*Golf de Troyes la Cordeliere – Laid out on a former property owned by the Counts of Chandon de Briailles, this course unfolds through 50 hectares of stunning woods and valleys. It is on the edge of Aumont forest and close to the village of Chaource.
Situated in Cordelière Chateau and built in 1896 the clubhouse provides locker rooms, shops, a lounge, dining room, bar and restaurant.
