Ian Taylor has been appointed Head Professional at Essendon Country Club near Welwyn Garden City.
Taylor (pictured) joins the staff of Hertfordshire’s most progressive club after spending seven years working at East Herts Golf Club, most recently as the club’s Teaching Professional.
For the last 12 months the 26 year-old has also been Head of Coaching at Golf 121, an innovative mobile application providing interactive golf tuition to the worldwide market.
He has also been a Hertfordshire County Coach for the last three years and in this role has worked extensively with some of the Country’s most promising young players.
“I am delighted to announce that Ian Taylor has been appointed as our new Head Professional,” said Essendon CC director, Kieran Griffin, who together with his brother, Liam, and their partners Elaine Ratcliffe and Clare Griffin, purchased the club just over a year ago.
“Ian comes to Essendon with the reputation as one of the South East’s most impressive young coaches and we see him as the perfect man to develop business at our new Golf Academy.”
The introduction of the new Golf Academy was one of the decisive factors in Taylor’s decision to take the job at Essendon.
“The Golf Academy is fantastic and gives me the perfect base from which I can provide structured coaching programmes for golfers of all ages and abilities,” said Taylor.
“Every time I have visited the club I have been impressed by how it has been developing and improving. It’s clear that it is a club that is moving in the right direction and I look forward to playing a significant role in its continued success.”
