2-FORE! Best of Britain:Cumbria
Last updated:
If you enjoy playing courses with great views you’ll simply adore Cumbria, the home of the ultra-scenic Lake District…and some high class 2-FORE!-1 venues…
*Windermere – Known as a ‘miniature Gleneagles,’ the 120-years-old course is at the heart of Lake District country but there’s not a single sand bunker to negotiate. But there are three 200-yards plus par-3s.
*Carlisle – Cumbria’s parkland pride is located virtually a thumping drive from the M6, but you’d never know – the attractive gently undulating course is majestically lined by an assortment of mature trees.
*Seascale (pictured) – It’s not the longest but, like so many old links, it provides a serious challenge when the wind is blowing. Running close to the sea, the back nine is arguably the better half with the closing three capable of ruining most scorecards.
*Kirkby Lonsdale – At the heart of the Lake District and you’ll be knocked out by the stunning views all around you.
*Brampton (Talkin Tarn) – Undulating layout – it’s a physical as well as a mental challenge – with a good variety of holes and more top views.
*Eden – Just outside Carlisle and provides a pleasurable all-round golfing day out and experience.
