This week’s 2-FORE!-1 selection features a former European Tour venue, a Braid links-parkland combo and one of Scotland’s finest inland layouts. Take your pick: the 2-FORE!-1 choice is yours…
*Forest of Arden (Arden course), Warwicks – Donald Steel-designed layout which enjoys a wonderful pedigree after hosting the British Masters three times. Unsurprisingly, the Championship circuit is not the easiest parkland track, boasting a series of challenging holes including a demanding par-3 finale.
*North Shore, Lincs – A mixture of links and parkland holes are on offer for anyone wishing to play a round just down the road or coast from the popular seaside resort of Skegness.
*Stockley Pines, Middlesex – Formerly known as Stockley Park, this layout opened in 1993 and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior. It has recently undergone a major makeover and has benefited big-time as a result.
*Nizels (pictured), Kent – Plotted on high ground overlooking Kentish Weald countryside, Nizels is a fine modern parkland track ably supported by a health & fitness club.
*College Pines, Notts – Boasts excellent natural drainage and is always in fine fettle though you need to take extra care on some tees, specially the left dogleg opening hole with a ditch running across the front of the green.
*Edzell, Scotland – One of the finest inland layouts north of the border, the main course is a superb heathland with many improvements in recent years.
