L.A.B. Golf launch a groundbreaking zero-torque putter and we’ve never seen anything like it

At this stage in 2025, zero-torque putters are far from novel, but L.A.B. Golf have completely changed the game once again. This time, with the heel-shafted OZ.1i HS putter.
Everyone is talking about zero-torque putters. It’s impossible to have a conversation these days about the best putters and not discuss zero-torque in general or L.A.B. Golf.
It’s going to be even more difficult now the Oregon-based company have added the OZ.1i HS to their range. This putter is unlike anything we’ve seen in this sphere up to now because it’s a heel-shafted putter sporting Lie Angle Balanced (L.A.B.) technology.

I think the zero-torque putter market has been crying out for a heel-shafted model because it will appeal to golfers who prefer a more traditional mallet and aren’t super keen on centre-shafted putters.
I can’t imagine it taking too long for the OZ.1i HS to cement itself among, not only the best L.A.B. Golf putters, but also the best zero-torque putters. After all, the original OZ.1i is already right up there.
The zero-torque putter market is extremely competitive, with Odyssey, PXG, TaylorMade, Bettinardi, Evnroll, and Toulon all manufacturing quality models fit for any golfer. However, there’s only L.A.B. Golf offering a heel-shafted option. Is that likely to change over the coming months? Time will tell…
While we speculate, let’s take a look at what makes the L.A.B. Golf OZ.1i HS putter so different.

Obviously, it’s the fact it’s heel-shafted, which is exactly what the HS in the name stands for. It’s the result of several years of research and development dedicated to combining L.A.B. technology with a heel-shafted putter.
“Lie Angle Balance is so much more than where the shaft goes into the head, and golfers are going to feel that when they try OZ.1i HS,” said L.A.B. Golf CEO Sam Hahn.
“It looks a lot like a traditional putter, but it performs like a L.A.B. This is a huge step toward our mission of helping every golfer putt better.”

OZ.1i HS features the same aluminum body, mechanically bonded to a fly-milled stainless steel insert as found in the OZ.1i, to maintain Lie Angle Balance. The shaft of the OZ.1i HS is connected to the head with a proprietary aluminum riser. This riser is available in ten different configurations, ranging from 65 to 74 degrees, allowing OZ.1i HS to be customized to each golfer’s preferred lie angle.
“Designing a heel-shafted putter that stays balanced to the lie angle presented us with a unique challenge,” said Brian Parks, vice president of engineering.
“The result is our custom, proprietary aluminum riser, a key feature of the OZ.1i HS that lets us offer multiple lie angles without compromising the signature feel and balance golfers expect from every L.A.B. putter.”

As with all L.A.B. putters, every OZ.1i HS is hand-balanced and assembled, passing through up to 10 different stages of craftsmanship before reaching the end of the production process.
OZ.1i HS is available at L.A.B. Golf and authorized retailers. The Stock model is available for $499.00, with Custom versions starting at $599.00.
