TaylorMade launch Rory McIlroy’s Masters-winning irons – but how can you get your hands on a set?

By , Golf Equipment Writer. Sometimes good, always sensational.

The custom irons that helped Rory McIlroy become a Grand Slam champion have been made available by TaylorMade to golfers around the world. Here’s what you need to know…

Ever since he signed with the TaylorMade Golf Company in 2017, a few months after the announcement from Nike Golf, his previous equipment supplier, that they would be pulling out of the manufacturing of golf clubs, Rory McIlroy‘s irons have been the subject of tremendous intrigue from the golfing community.

The ‘RORS•PROTO‘ irons, a name unchanged since they first appeared in the Ulsterman’s hands at TPC Sawgrass for the 2017 Players’ Championship, have been speculated on at length. Golfers at the level of Rory McIlroy have serious expectations and desires when it comes to the details of their clubs, so it’s no surprise that TaylorMade, like they did for the legend of the game that is Tiger Woods, brought out the heavy machinery to give McIlroy exactly what he wants.

Rory’s custom irons are CNC-milled from a single block of metal, which allows the company to reliably and efficiently reproduce sets whenever the now five-time Major champion requires a new set, and – aside from the initial models being made of 304 Stainless – are built using high-quality 1025 Carbon Steel.

Rory McIlroy hits his RORS•PROTO irons on his way to winning the 2025 Masters

Now, mere weeks after the Northern Irishman’s Grand Slam-sealing victory at the 2025 Masters, TaylorMade have announced that they will be bringing a limited edition run of RORS•PROTO replica irons to the market, allowing you to own a stunning set of irons that have helped define the career of this generation’s greatest player.

The irons, offered only in 4-PW, are available directly through TaylorMade Golf’s website (which you can find the link to below) and are fully customizable to your required specifications. They feature TW2 grooves, the same grooves built into the P•7TW irons, as well as thinner toplines in the shorter irons as per Rory’s preference.

There’s also a classy nod to the achievements of McIlroy underneath the ‘Forged’ badging, with four differently-colored dots representing his Grand Slam capture.

The irons will be available to order from May 1st until May 15th, with expected shipping later this year, in September.
