Muirfield Hole 06

Par 4, 469 yards
Never an easy par and there are a number of reasons why. For a start, the yardage is going to demand some powerful hitting and the tee shot is played over the crest of the hill, leaving you just sky to aim at.
Add to that the accepted truth that this hole is almost always played with a cross wind of some strength and you begin to see the problems. Being careful to avoid the bunkers on the left – the fairway then drops down and sweeps around towards Archerfield Wood.
It’s an unusual backdrop for a links hole and one that can create its own illusion. Often the pin will appear closer than it actually is, a danger not helped by the ‘dead ground’ found in a hidden hollow at the front of the green.
A tricky tee shot, but an even harder approach to judge correctly.
