Titleist is to continue its support of leading golf charity the Golf Foundation in its growing role of making the sport more accessible for young people.
Titleist will provide the Golf Foundation with golf balls for use in its events and for promotional activities.
The Golf Foundation and Titleist have put pen to paper on an agreement that makes the world-leading golf ball manufacturer the Official Golf Ball Supplier to the Golf Foundation for 2009.
The Titleist golf balls will be sent directly to the Foundation, a charity committed to the sporting and social development of young people through golf, for its calendar of events during 2009.
The balls will be used across the Golf Foundation’s school and community golf initiatives and at promotional events as the Foundation supports the national golf partnerships of England, Scotland and Wales.
Mike Round, Chief Executive of the Golf Foundation, said: “The new agreement really is excellent news for this organisation. All of our promotional activity to help grow the game is hugely important to us.
“In terms of our funding requirements as a charity, we are looking for strong commercial support from those in the golf industry who value the development of junior golf as a way of improving the game, and improving the whole industry in the future.
“The work of the Golf Foundation is invaluable in introducing the game of golf to schools and community groups throughout the UK,’ commented Neil Jessiman, Titleist’s European Marketing Manager. ‘We are delighted to be able to continue our support of the Golf Foundation and its initiatives.”
In 2007 the Foundation trained a total of 4,451 volunteers, sports leaders, coaches and teachers to deliver golf to youngsters (this figure represents a 44 per cent increase from 2006) and an estimated 700,000 children experienced golf through the Golf Foundation. The Foundation is poised to release new figures for 2008 in the near future.
