Stop your right knee popping out in the backswing

“Dear PatBoySlim, your daughter Kerry has great potential. Two or three minor faults need ironing out, but with guidance I’m sure she can become a fine golfer.
“Her right hand hold sneaks under the handle (‘strong’) as she just re-grips it before taking the club away. This closes the face which is evident in her arm motion through the ball and into the finish.
“Use a tee peg pinched between her thumb and opposite knuckle – this will help her notice if creeps under. Her arms and ‘triangle’ formed by them will be able to rotate correctly through the shot then and square up the clubface through impact.
“You have probably noticed a little softness in her left arm and the right knee popping out too much during the backswing. She should aim to feel some stretch in the arm as she turns around and over a steady lightly flexed right leg.
“If she places the ‘seat edge’ of a chair or edge of a range bucket to the side of her calf and make practise swings this will really help her feel if she sways across too much.
“Good luck, I will keep a look out for her name in lights!”
