CLIC Sargent patrons Eddie Jordan and Barry McGuigan hosted a charity golf day at Sunningdale GC last Tuesday which raised £125,000 for children and young people with cancer.
Keen golfers were captained by top sporting and television celebrities including Jamie Redknapp, Lawrence Dallaglio, Mark Ramprakash, Steve Rider, Alan Hansen, Damon Hill, Sir Steve Redgrave and Chris Hollins for a round of golf before enjoying a three-course lunch and charity auction which raised £60,000 for CLIC Sargent.
14-year-old golf enthusiast and cancer survivor Amie Ing from Aylesbury said: “I don’t think anything could top this day,” after picking up golfing tips from Chris Hollins.
“As long-term patrons of CLIC Sargent we’ve seen first-hand just how important its services are for supporting children and young people with cancer, and their families,” said Eddie Jordan, speaking on behalf of CLIC Sargent’s patrons.
“All the money raised from this event will go towards CLIC Sargent’s vital work, so a great day out on the fairways also supported a worthy cause at the same time,” he added.
Now in its 12th year, the annual golf event has raised more than £1.5million for CLIC Sargent.
Lorraine Clifton, Chief Executive of CLIC Sargent, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Eddie Jordan and Barry McGuigan and all our celebrity captains. I’d also like to thank everybody who bought a ticket and bid for auction prizes for supporting CLIC Sargent to be there every step of the way for children and young people with cancer. Money raised at today’s event means that we can continue our vital work.”
