US Open prize money: JJ Spaun takes home record-equalling $4,300,000 for victory at Oakmont
Last updated:

Players at Oakmont competed for the joint-largest US Open purse in the event’s history.
The 2025 US Open saw the USGA freeze prize money for the 125th edition of the tournament, but there was still a mammoth $21.5m up for grabs at Oakmont Country Club, where JJ Spaun won his maiden major title on a thrilling final day.
Spaun will receive $4.3 million, which is equal to what Bryson DeChambeau took home in 2024, with runner-up Robert MacIntyre earning $2.322 million, and third-placed Viktor Hovland taking home $1.445 million.

Even those making the cut and finished in 50th position collected $48,101, while the 89 players who missed the cut received $10,000 each.
The prize fund for the U.S. Open has grown significantly in recent years. In 2020, when Bryson DeChambeau claimed his first victory at Winged Foot, the total purse stood at $12.5 million, with the winner’s share at $2.25 million.
