This had never been done before: Victor Perez makes US Open history at Oakmont!

Victor Perez made history at the 2025 US Open with a hole-in-one on Oakmont’s 6th hole – the first ever on that hole and only the second ace in tournament history at the course.
In an incredibly rare and remarkable moment at the 2025 US Open, Victor Perez etched his name into the championship’s history with a hole-in-one on the par-3 6th hole at Oakmont Country Club. The ace marks only the second ever hole-in-one recorded during a U.S. Open at Oakmont, the last having occurred in 1983 when Scott Simpson holed out on the 16th.
The 6th hole was playing 192 yards on Friday, and Perez hit a flawless tee shot under calm morning conditions. The ball landed on the green, about ten feet short of the flag, and released forward before disappearing into the hole, prompting a huge applause from the spectators, and a fantastic chest-bump celebration from Perez and his caddie.

Oakmont, widely regarded as one of the most difficult venues in major championship golf, has long been known for its fast greens and punishing rough. The course has hosted the U.S. Open nine times, more than any other course. That only two holes-in-one have occurred in all those editions just emphasizes the difficulty of the course – and the significance of Perez’s achievement.
