Look who’s making a major return at the PGA Championship!

A cult hero will be teeing up in this year’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow…
You’d think the 2023 PGA Championship would be best remembered for how Brooks Koepka recovered from a dreadful start and play the next three rounds in 11-under-par to lap the field and not only become a five-time major champion but the first player to win one of golf’s four biggest tournaments while plying his trade on LIV Golf.
As it was, a man named Michael Block had other ideas.
The club pro, from Mission Viejo in California, carded opening rounds of 70-70 at Oak Hill to become the first PGA professional to head into the weekend in the top-10 since Jay Overton in ’88.
If that wasn’t enough, a third-straight 70 on Saturday set up a final-round pairing with Rory McIlroy – and we all remember his reaction to that particular news…
And if THAT wasn’t enough, Block slam-dunked a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th en route to a 1-over-par finish and $290,000 payday.
An overnight cult sensation was born.
Now the Block Party will return to the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow this year – the 48-year-old’s seventh time qualifying for the tournament, which opens up 20 spots each year to club professionals.

The 2025 PGA Professional Championship featured 312 players from 41 different sections across the United States vying for 20 spots at Quail Hollow later this month. Block carded rounds of 64-71-75-73 at PGA Golf Club in Port St Lucie, Florida, to book his ticket to North Carolina.
The other 19 qualifiers include PGA Professional Championship winner Tyler Collet, as well as Jesse Droemer, Brian Bergstol, Dylan Newman, Brandon Bingaman, Ryan Lenahan, Andre Chi, Eric Steger, John Somers, Justin Hicks, Rupe Taylor, Tom Johnson, Nic Ishee, Bob Sowards, Bobby Gates, Greg Koch, Timothy Wiseman, Larkin Gross, and Michael Kartrude.
