Poults from hero to zero

Ian Poulter may have looked the part in his natty apparel, but he certainly didn’t play the part at Turnberry.
Poults missed the cut by a country mile, finishing a disastrous +14 after rounds of 75 and 79 which put him at the back end of the field.
It was a far cry from last year when Poulter pushed Padraig Harrington all the way to the title.
Said a gutted Poulter: “There were no decent shots out there. It was horrrible.
“It’s just very disappointing. I’m playing to try and win the tournament but didn’t find the middle of the clubface for two days.
“I could have had a set of spades in my bag this week and I still wouldn’t have found the middle of the greens.”
But, Poults added, there is a plus side to his shock early exit. “I’m off down the M6 now and I haven’t been home for a long time so I’ve got lots of stuff to do.”
And no doubt he’ll be ‘twittering’ all the eay home…
