Great savings available for Wales’ first major championship

Wales will host a Major Championship for the first time in 2014 when The Senior Open Championship visits Royal Porthcawl GC (pictured) and all golf enthusiasts can ensure they are part of this special occasion by taking advantage of a festive ticketing offer.
With Christmas just around the corner, now is the perfect time to purchase advance ticket to see some of golf’s most iconic names take on this legendary South Wales links from July 24-27, 2014.
Substantial advance discounts are available via www.senioropengolf.com, with season tickets bought before December 31 costing just £60 – a 25 per cent saving on the gate price of £80.
One day tickets purchased before December 31 cost £20, a saving of £10 on the gate price, while Wednesday practice day tickets are also available at the reduced price of £10, a saving of £5 on the gate price. Under16s are admitted for free when accompanied by an adult and parking is also free.

American Mark Wiebe won The 2013 Senior Open Championship Presented by Rolex at Royal Birkdale, defeating two-time Masters Champion Bernhard Langer in a play-off.
The Championship attracted record crowds of 45,575, with the pair joined in the field by stars such as Fred Couples, Sandy Lyle, Tom Watson and Welshman Ian Woosnam, along with Colin Montgomerie, the man who led Europe to Ryder Cup glory at The Celtic Manor Resort in 2010.
As part of the agreement between the Welsh Government, The European Tour and The R&A, The Senior Open will return to Welsh shores on two further occasions between 2015 and 2024, on dates yet to be confirmed.
