Ten PGA pros to battle it out at Wentworth

Ten PGA professionals will be competing in the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week, having qualified via the 2013 Titleist PGA Play-Offs at Turkey’s Antalya Golf Club.

The PGA Play-Offs features a 24-strong field, comprising the top three from each of the PGA’s seven regional order of merits, plus the winner and runner up from the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship and the winner of the Powerade PGA Assistants’ Championship.
The top 10 from the PGA Play-Offs are as follows:
Greig Hutcheon, aged 41, (Paul Lawrie Golf Centre) – Tartan Tour No.1 makes his sixth appearance at Wentworth. Part of GB&I PGA Cup team that fought back from a five point deficit to tie with America at Slaley Hall in September 2013. More than 100 European Tour starts to his name and three Challenge Tour victories.
Matt Cort, 39, (Rothley Park) – former European Tour regular recently qualified as a PGA professional. Became first man last year to win three successive PGA Assistants’ Championships in 2011, 12 & 13 – a tournament dating back to 1930 and won by the likes of Harry Weetman, Peter Alliss and Dai Rees.
Matt Ford, 36, (CK Group) – Challenge Tour regular still targeting place on European Tour.
Ian Ellis, 41, (Great Yarmouth & Caister) – has made four appearances at Wentworth, still looking to make first cut.
Jason Levermore, 34, (Channels Golf Club) – Jason got a hole in one at the second last year at Wentworth and briefly thought he had won a car (£100,000 BMW Gran Coupe) sparking jubilant celebrations but it turned out the car was only up for grabs at the 14th. A long time regional competitor, Jason is 12 months into an enjoying a new challenge as head professional at Channels Golf Club.
Graham Fox, 36, (Clydeway Golf) – Former Scottish PGA Champion, part of GB&I PGA Cup team that fought back from a five point deficit to tie with America at Slaley Hall in September 2013.
Mark Hooper, 30, (The Rayleigh Club) – winner of the 2013 PGA East Region Order of Merit including victories in the Virgin Atlantic Golf Classic and Weston Homes PLC Classic. New head pro role at Rayleigh Golf Club.
Chris Kelly, 36, (Cawder) – one of seven players who will receive the support of the Team Scottish Hydro scheme this year. He becomes the first Tartan Tour professional to join the ranks.
Damian Mooney, 45, (Ballyliffin) – one of the biggest hitters in Ireland and a prolific winner on the Irish circuit.
Liam Bond, 43 (Marriott St Pierre) – former head teaching professional at Marriott St Pierre from 1989 to 1994. Liam also holds nine course records including lowest score of 62 (10 under par) at Newport Golf Club. He has also held a category on every European Tour from 2004 to 2011. Welsh National PGA Champion (1998).
