PGA Championship prize money: How much did each player earn at Quail Hollow?

By , This content is updated regularly by members of the Today's Golfer editorial team.
The PGA Championship lacks the identity of the other three majors.

Scottie Scheffler is now halfway to the Grand Slam – and he’ll pick up a record check in the process. Here’s a full breakdown of the PGA Championship prize money…

The PGA Championship prize money has escalated rapidly over the past few seasons, resulting in what was a record payout to 2025 champion Scottie Scheffler.

But that amount has gone up again in 2025 with an additional $500,000 added to the purse at Quail Hollow, taking it from $18.5m to $19m. The winner will take home $3.42m – $142,000 more than Schauffele banked last year.

The increase is reflective of the efforts seen by the PGA Tour to remunerate its Signature Events more in line with the payouts received on LIV Golf.

A history of PGA Championship prize money

The PGA Championship’s purse has been interesting, to say the least. It fluctuated wildly for the first 50 years of the tournament, before it broke through the six-figure barrier and steadily rise to where it is today.

Here’s a full history of the PGA Championship prize pot and winner’s share (remember – it was a match play event until 1957)…
