The first men’s major is already starting to fill up. So how many players are in the 2026 Masters field and what did they do to earn a coveted spot? Here’s the full rundown…

There’s nothing like the thought of that first glimpse down Magnolia Lane to have us clattering about in the garage to dust the cobwebs off our clubs and get back out on the course.
Rory McIlroy will, of course, defend his title after becoming the latest entrant to golf’s Grand Slam club. But who else will we be watching tee up at Augusta National when the 90th Masters gets underway on April 6?

How to qualify for the 2026 Masters
There will be 26 ways in which players can automatically receive an invite to the Masters – which is up from 20 after Augusta National and The R&A announced joint plans for new qualification criteria in August.
They are:
- Masters champions (lifetime exemption)
- US Open champions (honorary, five-year exemption)
- The Open champions (honorary, five-year exemption)
- PGA champions (honorary, five-year exemption)
- Players Championship winners (three-year exemption)
- Reigning Olympic gold medalist (one-year exemption)
- Reigning US Amateur champion and runner-up (honorary, one year exemption)
- Reigning The Amateur champion (honorary, one year exemption)
- Reigning Asia-Pacific Amateur champion (one year exemption)
- Reigning Latin America Amateur champion (one year exemption)
- Reigning US Mid-Amateur champion (one year exemption)
- Reigning NCAA Division I Men’s Individual champion (one year exemption)
- Top 12 players, including ties, in the previous year’s Masters
- Top 4 players, including ties, in the previous year’s US Open
- Top 4 players, including ties, in the previous year’s Open
- Top 4 players, including ties, in the previous year’s PGA Championship
- Individual winners of PGA Tour events that award a full-point allocation from previous Masters to current Masters
- Those qualifying and eligible for the previous year’s season-ending Tour Championship
- Reigning Scottish Open Champion (one-year exemption)
- Reigning Spanish Open Champion (one-year exemption)
- Reigning Japan Open Champion (one-year exemption)
- Reigning Hong Kong Open Champion (one-year exemption)
- Reigning Australian Open Champion (one-year exemption)
- Reigning South African Open Champion (one-year exemption)
- Top 50 on the final Official World Golf Ranking for the previous calendar year
- Top 50 on the final Official World Golf Ranking published during the week prior to the current Masters
The Masters Committee, at its discretion, also invites international players not otherwise qualified.
