The AIG Women’s Open 2025 at Royal Porthcawl will feature a record-breaking $9.75 million prize fund, with the Champion set to take home the biggest cheque in tournament history.
The R&A has announced a record-setting $9.75 million prize fund for the 2025 Women’s Open, being played this week at Royal Porthcawl in South Wales. This marks a $250,000 increase from 2024 and continues the Championship’s upward trajectory in prize money since AIG became title sponsor in 2019.
This year’s Champion will receive $1,462,500, the highest individual winner’s share in the tournament’s 49-year history.
This year’s prize fund reflects a 2.63% increase on the 2024 total, highlighting The R&A’s continued investment in the Championship and its ongoing efforts to raise the profile and rewards of women’s professional golf.

Established in 1976 and now owned by The R&A, the AIG Women’s Open is one of the five major championships in women’s golf, bringing together 144 of the world’s leading players. The event also recognises amateur excellence, with the Smyth Salver awarded to the leading amateur who completes 72 holes.
The Championship represents the flagship of The R&A’s wider commitment to advancing women and girls’ participation in golf, supported through the Women in Golf Charter. Future venues include Royal Lytham & St Annes in 2026, as the Championship continues to rotate through iconic links courses.
Despite the increase in prize money, the Women’s Open is currently the third highest-paying major in women’s golf, trailing behind the $12 million purses of both the US Women’s Open and the Women’s PGA Championship.
