Who is Ben Griffin’s caddie?

He has enjoyed a meteoric rise on the PGA Tour, but who is Ben Griffin’s caddie?
Ben Griffin has enjoyed one of golf’s most unlikely journeys. A standout at the University of North Carolina, he turned professional in 2018 and looked set for a bright future. But after struggling to establish himself, he stepped away from the game completely in 2021, working as a loan officer for a mortgage group in his home state of North Carolina.
Just a year later, his passion for golf reignited. Griffin earned his Korn Ferry Tour card in 2022, graduated to the PGA Tour, and quickly became one of its most compelling stories. By 2025, he had broken through in a big way, claiming his first PGA Tour win at the Zurich Classic alongside Andrew Novak, before backing it up with a solo victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Now a fixture inside the top 30 of the OWGR and a Ryder Cup rookie for Team USA, Griffin is proving himself on golf’s biggest stages.
And a key part of that rise has been his right-hand man on the bag, Alex Ritthamel.
Who is Ben Griffin’s caddie?
Alex Ritthamel is a veteran caddie with more than a decade of experience on the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour. Before teaming up with Griffin in 2023, he had worked with players including C.T. Pan and Matt Jones, gaining reputation as a dependable presence inside the ropes.
Since joining forces, Griffin and Ritthamel have developed a strong chemistry. That support was never more obvious than at the 2024 Genesis Invitational, when Ritthamel drove 12 hours overnight from Phoenix to Los Angeles to retrieve Griffin’s golf clubs after an airline mishap. The gesture earned headlines, but more importantly, it underlined the dedication Ritthamel brings to his role and the trust Griffin places in him.
After patiently waiting in the wings, 2025 has been a career-defining season for the pair. Griffin, who had managed eight top-10 finishes across his first two full seasons on tour, found another gear. In 2025 alone, he recorded more than 10 top-10 finishes and two PGA Tour victories.
As the old saying goes, once the first win comes, the second isn’t far behind. And with Ritthamel by his side, Ben Griffin looks set for many more.
