Bubba Watson takes shot at own LIV Golf team in bizarre PGA Tour comparison

Life is never boring when RangeGoats captain Bubba Watson is around – as his latest interview proves.
Bubba Watson sent out some interesting messages during a recent podcast appearance.
The left-hander, who now plays on LIV and is captain of the Range Goats, was asked about the difference in the schedule between the breakaway circuit and the PGA Tour and bizarrely took aim at his own team, which also features Peter Uihlein, Matt Wolff and Ben Campbell.
“There are no more cuts, so we’re there for the whole week,” he told the Pat McAfee Show. “I try to go in on Monday to get practice, because there’s nobody out there, even if I’m travelling overseas, I try to get in a bit early.
“Now that my kids are older, they come out and go to the tournaments with me, they’re allowed on the range with me. I’m the owner of the team, so they’re allowed to ride with me.
“I mean, hey, our team sucks, but we’ve got a great logo.”
Suppose it’s not quite as ludicrous as what he said about Tiger Woods recently.
But it is worth pointing out that the remark was made with a smile on his face and drew a laugh from his host, although the RangeGoats are languishing in eighth out of 13 teams in the season-long standings.
Watson made the switch to LIV in 2022 and seemingly has no regrets over his decision.
“I love it,” he added. “We have time off – the PGA Tour quit having time off, we started going year-round.
“Being able to spend time with my kids and watch them play sports is a dream come true. And they love watching me play golf.
“My son’s getting old enough now he can walk all 18 holes and follow me. So, it’s a blast out there. We’re going to Spain and London, we’re going to stop over in Rome and let him see Rome for a couple of days. I love it.”
Watson did, however, point out the reason he has struggled individually on LIV. In his two full seasons, he has finished 53rd and 36th and currently sits 29th in the standings with just one top-10 finish to his name this year.
“Going back to the PGA Tour schedule, there’s 40 events,” he said. “For me, you pick your top 20 courses that you believe fit your game and so you can do that.
“But now at LIV, it’s tougher because it’s 14 weeks, and you have to play in all 14.”
For the record, in all the seasons in which Watson held a full PGA Tour card, he averaged 21 starts a year compared to 18 since joining LIV – which includes the Masters and Asian Tour events.
He continued: “No matter if all courses suck for you or all courses are good for you, you have to change your game and try and figure out your game and how you can play and attack each course, even though it might not be the course you want to play at.
“At the PGA Tour, out of 40, you can find some that you play well and perform at so you can keep your card.”
