Jake Knapp has issued a statement after the death of his girlfriend, Makena White.

PGA Tour professional Jake Knapp has addressed the tragic death of his girlfriend, Makena White, making his first public comments since the news was shared.

The announcement of White’s passing, at just 28 years old, was made on the opening day of the 2025 Ryder Cup in New York.

The news was confirmed on her Instagram account by a close friend, who shared that she had passed away earlier in the week. Tributes from friends, family, and the golfing community have poured in on social media since the announcement.

Knapp released a statement to the press later on Friday evening.

“Makena was such a thoughtful person whose selflessness toward others is something I will always appreciate.

“We shared so many unforgettable memories together and now that she’s no longer with us, it’s a tough reality to comprehend.

“She had an incredible family, great friends, and her fun, outgoing energy will be missed by all of us.

“It’s an understatement to say how hard all of this is to process for everyone who knew Mak, especially her family and friends, who deserve privacy and respect during this difficult time.”

Knapp and White had been together since August 2023.
