How far?! The longest hole-in-one ever recorded at each of the major championships

By , Contributing Editor (mainly contributing unwanted sarcasm and iffy golf takes, to be honest)

Here are the longest holes-in-one ever recorded at The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and the Open Championship.

There’s no such thing as a bad hole-in-one, especially at a major championship – but not all aces are created equal.

In honor of Si Woo Kim’s monstrous 252-yard hole-in-one on the sixth hole during the second round of the 2025 PGA Championship, let’s take a look at the longest aces in each of golf’s four major championships.

Longest hole-in-one at The Masters

The longest hole-in-one ever recorded during the Masters came courtesy of Jeff Sluman in 1992. The American aced Augusta National’s par-3 fourth hole with a 4-iron in the opening round – a 213-yard shot that, unfortunately, wasn’t caught on camera.

The hole has since been lengthened and now typically plays close to 240 yards.

Sluman remains the only player ever to have aced the hole during the Masters.

Jeff Sluman is the only golfer to have had a hole-in-one on the 4th hole in the Masters, his ace was the 12th in Masters history

Longest hole-in-one at the PGA Championship

Si Woo Kim recorded the longest hole-in-one in PGA Championship history – and in any major, for that matter – during the second round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

It was the Korean’s sixth career ace and undoubtedly his longest. He used a 5-wood to hole out on the 252-yard par-3 sixth hole, which was his 15th of the day due to the two-tee start.

The ace was Kim’s sixth on the PGA Tour since earning his card in 2016 – more than any other player in that timespan.

Longest hole-in-one at the U.S. Open

Peter Hedblom only played in three U.S. Opens during his career. He made the cut in all three, including T11 and T21 finishes in 2005 and 2006. But his place in U.S. Open history was secured by a single shot.

The Swede aced the 238-yard 3rd hole during the third round at Winged Foot in 2006, the longest ace in the tournament’s long history.

Peter Hedblom made the longest hole-in-one in U.S. Open history.

Longest hole-in-one at the Open Championship

Long par-3s clearly suit Si Woo Kim. Less than a year before his monstrous ace at Quail Hollow, he recorded the longest ever hole-in-one in Open Championship history, acing the 238-yard par-3 17th at Royal Troon during the third round of the 2024 Open.
