Stacy Lewis has called time on her LPGA career after 17 years at the top.
Stacy Lewis has announced her retirement from golf at the age of 40.
The American’s resumé boasts two major championships – the 2011 Chevron Championship and 2013 Women’s Open – as well as 11 other LPGA titles.
Lewis also played in four Solheim Cups, winning two, and put five and a half points on the board for the red, white and blue. She then captained the side to a 14-14 tie in Spain before retaining the trophy with victory a year later in Virginia.
In a lengthy statement on the LPGA website, the University of Arkansas alumna wrote: “The time has come to put the clubs away. I will finish out the 2025 season, but this will be my last on the LPGA.
“I’m not exactly sure what is next but I’m so grateful for all the Arkansas fans and people that have supported me along way! Success takes a lot of patience and a great support system around you.”
Lewis singled out Travis Wilson, her caddie for her entire professional career, for special praise.
“The most consistent, reliable person I could ever ask for,” she wrote. “He was always the same person whether we won or lost, and the big brother I never had!”

She continued: “I’m going to miss the LPGA Tour family and this part of my life, but my body has told me it’s time.
“I’m looking forward to having more time as a family. It’s been amazing to watch our daughter grow up on tour with our incredible childcare family, getting through the last seven years has truly taken a village! When you have a child of your own, you appreciate your own parents even more. I’m so thankful my parents have been able to take this journey with me, being there for the highs and lows, the tough love when I needed it, and lately being great babysitters!
“I’ve cared for the LPGA Tour like it was my own child and I’m so proud of the progress we have made, but to my fellow players, we aren’t done! I hope you all continue to push the tour forward and do all that you can to help on and off the course!
“Now, it’s time to tee it up for the 19th time in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, I can’t wait for all the Hog Calls and playing for all of you in Arkansas one more time!”
She signed off the message: “GO HOGS!”
