The Stinger GC members will be pleased with the news that LIV Golf is headed to South Africa.

It looks like LIV Golf’s finest will be headed to a new country – and continent – in the near future…

Africa and South America are the only two continents on which LIV Golf is yet to hold an event.

But that will soon change, according to one country’s government.

Gayton MacKenzie – South Africa’s minister for sport, arts and culture – revealed that his nation is in advanced talks to secure an tournament with the Saudi Arabia-funded tour.

“We are close to bringing the world’s most exciting golf tournament LIV Golf to South Africa,” MacKenzie claimed.

“Fifty-four of the world’s top golfers will descend on South African soil in the near future.

“I met with the brilliant chief executive Scott O’Neil and the rest of his bright executive team at golf’s freshest new globe-spanning tournament, which has an all-south African team.”

That team is Stinger GC, which is made up of former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen and 2011 Masters winner Charl Schwartzel, as well as Branden Grace and Dean Burmester, who have two LIV Golf titles between them.

MacKenzie added: “We are full of hope about bringing this festival of sport and culture to South Africa soon.”

Captain Oosthuizen, who lifted the Claret Jug in 2010, has made little secret of his desire to have a LIV Golf event in his homeland.

“Everyone knows the South African public want a LIV tournament and to bring this type of field to South Africa would be an unbelievable thing,” he said.
