Scottie Scheffler will have a temporary caddie at the BMW Championship in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Scottie Scheffler has a temporary bagman for the second of the FedEx Cup Playoffs at Caves Valley.

Scottie Scheffler will have a stand-in caddie for the BMW Championship.

The World No.1’s regular bagman, Ted Scott, flew home during last week’s FedEx St Jude Invitational to attend a private family matter and Scheffler hired Brad Payne for the final 18 holes at TPC Southwind.

Payne, who serves as a chaplain to PGA Tour players through his role with College Golf Fellowship, is a close friend of Scheffler, as well as a mentor to the three-time major champion.

Scottie Scheffler turns to stand-in caddie Brad Payne when Ted Scott is unavailable.

It was also not the first time Payne had been on Scheffler’s bag. He caddied for his fellow Dallas native during the third round of last year’s PGA Championship, when Scott was attending his daughter’s high school graduation.

For the BMW Championship, at Caves Valley in Maryland, Scheffler will have Michael Cromie on the bag.

Cromie is Chris Kirk’s caddie and is free to caddie for the three-time major champion after his regular boss finished the season in 51st to miss out on a spot in the second of the FedEx Cup Playoffs by a single spot.
